The GEN-Bangladesh was formed to the efforts given by individuals and organizations in Bangladesh working independently
towards the goal of achieving gender equity in the energy sector, and taking forward their convictions on the immense need for
progress in this area. The gender aspects of energy as a means of empowering women through using energy productively. How far use of the energy can contribute to the well-being of and improve their position in the society, both will depend on with
respect to economic condition and personal environment, will determine its usefulness and relevance for women. Now- a-days in
rural areas women are contributing to the family income by involving themselves in various types of income-generating
activities (IGAs).The major activities in which women are highly involved are agricultural process, poultry-rearing and
handicrafts.
Vision: By 2020 all the National policies in Bangladesh on energy issues will consider women’s interests and gender concerns, and take special programs to make access to household energy one of the main focuses of energy planning.
Mission: The mission of ENERGIA is to empower women and to engender energy for sustainable development.
